How to Do Your Own Facial Mask

Posted by Tristie | Posted in Exfoliation, Health, Marriage, Wife | Posted on 25-01-2010

People ask me all the time…

“Hey, what do you do to your skin? You look only 40!”

(I always feel good about that because I am only 41!)

Through the years of gleaning “beauty wisdom” from magazines to professionals themselves, here’s a quick run-down on how to make your own  Facial Mask . These masks can exfoliate, moisturize, rejuvenate your marriage, solve your job- crisis problem,  and well…clean your face.  See what you think!

My Cheap Favorite…. The White Sugar Masksugar
I read in a magazine about a stressed-out photographer and “model prep” gal who had no materials in which to exfoliate “their girls’ faces” .
The “prep gal” reached over and grabbed white sugar packets off the breakfast trays. It did the trick…not only do “they work the best because of their cone-shaped molecular structure”. When she said that, I was sold…especially by her scientific words. I know good beauty/science intelligence when I hear it! :)

oatmealThe Oatmeal Mask
I do this one, also. This is designed for that “tired” skin that just needs to be reminded “Hey, you are important too!” .On a clean face, combine oatmeal and water into paste and slap it on your visage. Let it dry and voila! You have French skin devoid of all flaws!  Moisturize quickly or you will smell like breakfast, according to my daughter.

The Chocolate Maskchocolate
Seriously?! YES! This is my favorite (and other gals I know!) . Now, the trick here is you have to BUY it…but $1.50….dreamy!.  You slice open the packet and smell 3 Musketeers!  On a clean face, smear that goodness all over your face…but don’t eat it….it’s made for your pores, not your taste buds. I don’t think I can try to make it because to be honest, I just don’t like that cocoa   “semi-sweet “ bitterness smell. Go ahead-buy the real one. I promise your children will kiss you good-night happily!

The Yogurt Mask
This is real deal….everyone in the Beauty Industry seems to talk about it and recommend it . BUT, I will tell while I am a big fan of eating plain yogurt for good intestinal activity… it hurt!  I delicately applied the yogurt and it stung and turned my face beet red. Maybe it was just me , but I did not look younger or like a supermodel at the end of that experience… but, who knows? Maybe it’s just good for your gut.

Last , The Classic “Clay” Maskargile et argilotherapie
This is the one we all grew up with…fun gal pal parties with green clay faces, hair piled high in towels, and paintin’ our toes..teehee!
I loved these! My sister and I loved to do these kind of masks, but I think that they were the only ones available. Now, you can get Pumpkin seed, Aloe Vera, and Papaya.  Pretty soon, maybe they will make some for women with  attitude problems, disobedient children, and  P.M.S. ! Brilliant!

Have a great week….enjoy the FACT that Jesus loves you just the way are….in your own skin!

Thankful Tension

Posted by Tristie | Posted in Challenge to Growth, Health | Posted on 23-08-2009

Hello friends!   How good God is to give us Himself!

Many of us -through prayer groups or e-mail, have discussed the challenges of pain and suffering in life. Whether emotional or physical, the issue is not whether or not we will experience pain, but the acuteness of it. Pain is a strange surprise to us….we readily receive the power of God to worship and witness but do not know how to depend upon Him in private trial. How do you trust God when you cannot see Him? How do you cry out for His help when your heart is in anguish? How do you lean upon Him as YOUR  intercessor?

In His goodness, He gives His Word, His church and (may I suggest) the lives of those who have gone on before us. Personally, it is the lives of those who have ENDURED, not ENTERTAINED who draw me the most. Those who have been through the jungle of physical trial (and therefore emotional) trial with a soft-hearted determination to grow in Him. They have struggles (in the flesh) with self-pity, anger and pride yet, gained VICTORY (in the Spirit) through humility, brokenness and deep private worship of God.

The lives of Adonirum and Ann Judson of Burma and Robert and Mary Moffit of Africa give me encouragement in their constant commitment to “usefulness”, not necessarily personal fulfillment. How glorious to have our mind expanded to worship God not just for what I ask Him for but because HE is! Can He move? Yes. Can He heal? Yes. Can He change us? Most definitely. May we live in lives of “THANKFUL TENSION”..tense because we want freedom from pain but thankful because He is and we are allowed to see.

Perhaps this will be the week He will cultivate in us a mind of thankfulness and a yielded heart of patience. Our worship will be a fragrance to the Creator God who grandly hung the stars in the sky and STILL bends His ear to hear my eager, yet smaller, requests.

Love to you in the One who knows you best,

Detox Power Drink

Posted by Tristie | Posted in Health, Uncategorized | Posted on 11-08-2009

I am amazed at how I have felt the last few days..this is a smoothie that might energize you too! (I was so surprised I had to tell my pals!)

This is all in a blender and almost everything you can get in a grocery store or Brazos Natural Foods (or Whole Foods) ..obviously, if you are pregnant, “Kyo-Green” Powder you would want to eliminate!

This is your GET READY FOR THE FALL RUSH DRINK! :)

*One cup (or one and a half) whole milk (or skim)

*One cup PLAIN yogurt (not flavored-kind…too much sugar)

*2 Capsules (opened and poured in) of Turmeric

*2 -4 Capsules (1,000 mg each) tossed in blender Odorless Garlic

*1-2 Cups Frozen Blueberries (Apparently, the “most healthy fruit” according to a few newspapers….wow, who knew?) You can use any fruit I bet too!

*1 Banana

1 Teaspoon of “Kyo-Green” powder (this is barley grasses, wheat grasses, chlorella, and kelp)..Don’t worry..with the sweetness of the berries and everything else, it’s great!

There you have it..I pour it into a 16 ounce glass and down it!

Happy Detox! :)
