An Age-Old Prayer

Friends….

I had written this for the girls I discipled in the Spring of 1997. It remains my prayer for
all of the girls God has brought to me these last 20 years!

Powerful and Loving God, you have loved us and drawn us to yourself. You have shown us your love by paying the price for our sin. We could not pay this debt. May we recognize this spiritual secret! My hope for these women is that they would walk with you for a lifetime. There will be COST. Father, help them choose the harder way. Let them choose to follow when it hurts, when it’s embarrassing and when it divides.
May they not be satisfied with mere contentment in life. Let them SEE the invisible Kingdom…and REACH FOR IT. I ask that they would care more deeply for others than themselves. I pray that sharing the gospel with a lost person would be their life passion. Let them see the urgency! Let them not be distracted by things that promise fulfillment–material things, power and position, and even worse, love of self. Let them choose significance in YOU. Let them be thankful and fulfilled in knowing their identity in you.
I pray that they would read your Word, love it, and honor it by giving it TIME. Let them have honest time with you….not just consistent asking , but consistent worship as well. May they confess sin, KNOWING that the lack of confession can turn them into bitter women . May they cry out to you for immediate help when they are tempted toward sin.
In His POWER and not our own,
tris

Is there MORE for you?

One of the greatest gifts God has given us is vision for the future. Call it dreaming, hoping, or planning-it’s that powerful sense that says,”There is more.” Joshua was a faithful visionary-acutely aware of his need for strength to fulfill his calling. The weight of his task heightened his dependence on God.

A new year is here! What’s your vision for yourself, your family, your church, or your business? It will require actively facing forward, not dwelling on the past, & leaning into God’s strength. The God of history has a plan for your future. His plan for you will be good!!

Most Important Celebrity Update!

Whether it’s the Oscars or Met Gala, it’s a fun distraction to see the latest glamor of celebs. When does this interest creep from “enjoy” to “worship”? Here are a few ideas:
1. When I begin to idolize celebrities so much that I spend huge amounts of time & money on beauty, that might be a problem.
2. When I begin to spout a celeb’s views on life (rather than come up with my own) that might be a problem.
3. When I begin to believe the lie that “on-trend” is more important than eternal, that might be a problem.
4. When I realize I’m spending way more time scrolling celebrity updates than spending time with Jesus, that might be a problem.

Is it ok to follow, like, share, & be interested in celeb culture? Yes. But, you must be careful. Your self-worth is a fave place the enemy likes to work. He wants to create insecurity in you. Balance yourself with an admiration of on-trend cute and a devotion to the eternal radiance of Christ. God’s definition of beauty is much more than simply visible . He creates beauty of heart & soul. Besides, His makeovers are permanent. ❤️
