One day (on a blind date) a Navy sailor & an American Airlines flight attendant had lunch in Acapulco, Mexico. Love happened quickly & they married at a courthouse in California 3 months later. There was no wedding or honeymoon-just gold bands. The sailor shipped out 3 weeks later. Fast forward 25 years-and 3 kids later-those same kids threw a wedding ceremony for them. It was dreamy-she had her white dress & flowers. He got to wear a new suit & have good cake. Last week, this power couple celebrated 50 years together with a gorgeous big party! There were many friends sharing stories, well wishes, & a certain constant refrain was spoken. “If they were more people like them, the world would be a better place.” Their oldest child, a girl, had watched them for decades. Their example of marriage was not lost on her. Here was how it was done! Their sacrifices for others have been extreme, their faithfulness to each other has demonstrated real character, & their lifestyle of laughter has created a web of joy around their family. That oldest child has her own family now. Many times, she tries to implement what they taught her. But, the day of the party, she thought of nothing taught, only the teachers.
